Our first year as a mutual – our Annual Members Meeting
On Thursday the 21st of September, we held our second Annual Members Meeting in Afon Taf High School, Troedyrhiw.
Starting at 5.30pm, Nicola Evans (Chair of Board) and Mike Owen (Chief Executive) took members through the business section where they accepted the financial statement, annual report and the compliance statement. These documents, along with the Report to Members and the Value for Money statement are available on our website as a Journey of Assurance map. Read these here.
5 representatives of the Democratic Body then took to the stage, to report to members on their achievements over the year. Watch their video below or read their Report to Members in our Journey of Assurance map, to find out more details of their fantastic achievements.
The final part of the business meeting, saw Nicola having the exciting task of announcing those representatives that had been successful in the recent vote for Democratic Body elections. We want to thank to all members that put themselves forward as representatives and those members who voted. Below are the successful candidates:
Fran Bevan (Re-elected)
Tracey Powell (Re-elected)
Marlene Burns (Re-elected)
Youth has Talent formed the second part of the evening, where 8 talented acts from local youth groups performed a variety of different acts including a piano/keyboard recital, dancing and singing.
Every act was fantastic, which made it very difficult for those attending to vote for their favourite. There was a prize for 1st, 2nd and 3rd (£300, £200 and £100 respectively) – the winners were announced as 1st place – TAG, 2nd place – Pant and Dowlais Boys and Girls Club and 3rd place – Merthyr Tydfil Borough Wide Youth Forum.
We want to thank everyone who came and the acts for all their hard work. You made our 2nd AMM a successful one.
