This morning a fire safety exercise is happening at St. Tydfil’s Court with the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service. There will be fire engines and equipment present. Please do not be alarmed if you see any of these, this is part of the exercise. There is no emergency.

Following the tragic Grenfell Tower fire in London, we have continued to work closely with the residents of St Tydfil’s Court. They have been committed to getting involved in fire safety, understanding the power of partnership working, which has resulted in the creation of the Residents Fire Safety Forum.

The exercise, detailed below, has been organised as a result of the Forum’s request to see how the evacuation process would work in practice.

Fire safety exercise

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service will be demonstrating to the Residents Fire Safety Forum, how they would fight a fire and evacuate resident(s) with mobility issues within St Tydfil’s Court as well as demonstrating the operational capability of their hydraulic platform in addition to their standard appliances.

At the end of the exercise, crews will be on hand for a time to answer questions relating to the equipment used, as well as offering home fire safety checks and MVH will also be providing a number of short drop-in sessions on basic first aid for anyone that is interested in learning or practicing some practical skills.
