Here at MVH, we aim to be more than a landlord where we provide tenants with more than just a home but with services and support to improve their lives and that the of community.

Recently, our Supported Services Team, Sheltered Housing Team and Community Regeneration Team have become our Community Wellbeing Team to further enhance our focus on helping others improve their wellbeing.

Friday morning, Merthyr Football Club was brimming with excitement when over 50 tenants attended our Community Wellbeing Day – promoting the importance of health and wellbeing and the services to help tenants in achieving positive mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing.

During the Day, we launched brand new projects – “Happy Feet” to get tenants safe slippers to help prevent slips and falls, the “Fit Bit Challenge” encouraging improved fitness through a little bit of healthy competition, “Digital Friends to help tenants to link up and combat isolation via social media outlets and a “Tenants Healthy Recipe Book” to bring together our tenant’s favourite healthy meals.

Those at the event were treated to fantastic cooking and smoothie making demonstrations from Calorie Girls, hand massages from the Rose Retreat and talks from Ageing Well on slips, trips and falls and British Red Cross on Positive Steps.

Drinkwise Agewell, Valleys Steps, Tai Pawb, Voluntary Action Merthyr Tydfil and Merthyr Tydfil Library Homelinks Service were all there to give tenants information about the services they provide and the help and support out there for them.

Jullie McCarthy, Community Wellbeing Team Leader, said “As a Community Wellbeing Team we want to ensure that our communities and all those who live within them are supported with the key attributes required to flourish and fulfill collective and individual potential.  These include a sense of belonging, a safe, secure supportive environment and equal access to services which allow a good quality of life.  Our Community Wellbeing day gave an insight in to the direction that our team is taking in providing a rounded support service to our communities.  We want to thank our friends and colleagues from our partner organisations for attending and providing invaluable information and resources to our tenants and a big thank you to all our tenants who came along and made the day such as success”
