What is National Safeguarding Adults Week?

  • This week is National Safeguarding Adults Week and here at Merthyr Valleys Homes we are proud to join the nationwide conversation to encourage everyone to play their part in keeping others safe. National Safeguarding Adults Week takes place between the 16th and 22nd November with the aim of highlighting some of the difficult situations many of our friends, families, neighbours and colleagues may find themselves in and focuses on the actions we can all take to support one another.
  • For this year’s campaign we will be focusing on some key themes throughout the week:
    • Mental Health and Self Harm –
      • Understanding and recognising the signs of low mood, depression, self harm and suicide
      • What you can do if you are struggling
      • What you can do to help others who are struggling
    • The Freedom Programme – free resources and online support for those who are have or continue to experience domestic abuse.
  • Throughout the week we will share information, advice and resources to help better understand and recognise these issues, however if you feel you or anyone is in danger right now – please act on it and report it to us, the emergency services or statutory services (Social Services, health care providers) to get the support you or they need.
