Over the past several months Community Housing Cymru have been working with us and other Housing Associations, to co-produce a safety transparency offer (STO) with the Welsh Government.

 

We have been delighted to be involved with framework, entitled Safety First in Housing, which is the first of its kind in the UK. Aimed at the housing sector, it supports housing associations to achieve and maintain a transparent approach to health and safety matters with their tenants – ensuring we as landlords are open, transparent and accountable. Effective engagement with tenants on health and safety is a key theme of the framework.

 

 

Getting involved

 

The safety and security of our tenants in their homes is hugely important to us – as is involving and listening you, our tenants, in how we keep you safe

 

We have two active tenant-led Health & Safety Forums – Tenant Safety Forum and the Residents Fire Safety Forum – which are our main consultative groups of Health and Safety.

 

The Tenant Safety Forum links back to our Democratic Body, and influence the design of our policy and procedures and they are also involved in making sure we deliver on what we promise to do.

 

The Resident Fire Safety Forum is where we work with tenants, communicating information, having discussion and provide assurance. The Forum played a large part of our specification, procurement and assurance process in the selection of the Total Doors fire doors.

We would love for you to get involved and join one of the Forums.

 

We can provide you with all the training you want or need. As well as empowerment, our tenants have also gained L2 and L3 formal H&S qualifications through their involvement with us, although these are not mandatory.

 

Don’t worry – you wouldn’t be statutory accountable for our H&S performance or arrangements. We just want your views, input and opinions.
