We’re recruiting a Board Member

Merthyr Valleys Homes is a forward thinking housing association that owns and manages over 4,100 properties in Merthyr Tydfil. In 2016 we became the first tenant and staff-owned mutual housing organisation in Wales. Members have control over the running and future direction of the organisation and help us to continue to improve our services. By working together, we will meet the growing needs and aspirations of our tenants, our employees and our local communities.


We are looking for an outstanding new Board Member who will use their skills and expertise to help us deliver our plan. If you share our mutual values and our passion for making a difference in our communities we want to hear from you. In return, you will gain unique experience of working as a Non-Executive Director with a dynamic Board, alongside a Democratic Body, within a mutual governance framework.


Following our recent skills audit and independent governance review we know that we would like to attract someone with Finance & Investment skills to this post.


We recognise that we don’t yet have a diverse organisation and we are working hard to address this. We were awarded the Tai Pawb “Quality in Equality and Diversity” accreditation in 2019, but we know that we have work to do in order to truly reflect our communities in Merthyr and across Wales. Whilst we welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates, we particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian and minority ethnic candidates for this vacancy both to add to our skills set as a Board and to increase our diversity of thought and lived experience.
