What you need to do
Somebody moves in or out that is not an MVH tenant (contract holder)

We will need to know the person's full name, date of birth, National Insurance Number, contact number, relationship to the tenant (contract holder) and the date they moved in or out.

This could impact any benefits you may be receiving and the amount of rent you pay. Advice is available from our Rent Support Team.

Request to change name

Change in contact information e.g. phone number or email address

Swapping homes with another social housing tenant/contract holder (a mutual exchange)

Removing a person from a contract - changing from a joint to sole tenant (contract holder)

A tenant (contract holder) can withdraw from the contract by giving written notice to Merthyr Valleys Homes. Adding a person to the tenancy - sole to joint tenant (contract holder)

The only person named on the contract dies

When a sole tenant (contract holder) passes away and there are no family members that would qualify for keeping the property (Succession Rights), the next of kin needs to notify us either by ringing the contact centre on 0800 085 7843, calling into reception or emailing us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Keys will need to be returned 1 month following date of death. Where there are other family members in residence at the time of death then an application form needs to be submitted for Succession Rights.

One person named on the contract dies

If you are a joint tenant (contract holder) and the other tenant (contract holder) dies, your contract will continue in your sole name under survivorship. Making structural changes to your home

If you are a secure tenant (contract holder), then you are entitled to make some alterations or improvements to your home, but you must first obtain our written permission.
