Your Rent

As a mutual it remains important for us to set a rent that is fair and affordable for all households.

One of the objectives of our Living Rent Policy is fairness and moving rents towards the target rent for their property type has been the basis of our rent policy for several years.

We designed the policy following lengthy consultation with Board, Democratic Body and tenants. ....

Summary of our living rents policy

  • We want to set a rent that is fair and affordable for all households.
  • All properties of the same type should have the same rent and
  • we will work over a number of years to achieve this.
  • Our Policy would comply with the Rent Setting Policy of Welsh Government.
  • Our Policy would be in line with the promises made at transfer (in 2009) and rent increases would not be greater than would have occurred under the Council.

Paying your rent could not be simpler with MVH. For quickness and easy access, we process rental payments online, make an online payment here.

You can decide to pay your rent on a Monday of your choosing, whether that’s in weekly, fortnightly, or monthly instalments. However, if you’re paying by debit card then you can pay your rent on any day of the week.

Important: To live in our homes, you must pay rent on time as it is part of our tenancy agreement.

Some of our tenants may have to pay for additional services, such as caretaking, heating, or cleaning. These charges will form part of your weekly rent and will be set out in your tenancy agreement if they apply to you, and certain charges are eligible to be paid by Housing Benefit.

MVH will only introduce these services and charges after having a consultation with the tenant, and the aim of these services are to improve the management of your home.

Supporting People charges usually apply to Community Living Schemes and pays for services such as scheme managers and lifeline emergency services.

If these charges apply to you, they will be stated in your tenancy agreement or, in regard to lifeline services, at the point of installation.
