We are proud to work with and support the amazing community groups we have here in Merthyr.

These groups work with members of our communities through lots of groups, support, and activities find out more about them here:

The Gellideg Foundation Group (the GFG) is a community organisation based on a social housing estate in Merthyr Tydfil. Residents on the estate founded the group in 1998 in response to the worsening socio economic conditions of that time.

The motto of the group is 'the future is ours to create'.

We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK. Our foodbank is a project supported by local churches, agencies and partners, working together towards stopping hunger in our local area.
